French Fire testing to railway components:NF F *****1
NF F *****1 Fire test to railway component-Standard
NF F *****1 – Railway Rolling Stock Fire Behavior Choice of Material
NF F *****2 – Railway Rolling Stock Fire Behavior Choice of Material – Application for electrical equipment
NF F *****1 Fire test to railway component-Standard Brief
The purpose of this standard is to propose a method of classification of materials for rolling stock obtained from the results of standardized tests. This method of classification establishes objectives and simultaneously takes into account as much the combustion of the materials as the opacity and toxicity of the combustion emissions.
NF F *****1 Fire test to railway component-Standard Scope
The purpose of this standard is to establish rules relating to the choice of materials according to their fire behaviour with regard to reaction to fire, opacity of smoke and toxicity of gases emitted.
NF F *****1 establish classification objectives and specifies the minimum classifications to be complied with according to the type of materials concerned.
NF F *****1 is applicable to all non-metallic materials, with the exception of paintwork where they form part of passenger railcars, cabins, vans, observation railcars, wagons and their trailers, including drivers’ cabins where they exist as well as engine drivers’ cabins
NF F *****1 Fire test to railway component – Fire Classification
Burning Behaviour I rating: I0, I1, I2, I3, I4
Burning Behaviour M rating: M0, M1, M2, M3, M4
Smoke and toxicity F rating: F0, F1, F2, F3, F4, F5
NF F *****1 Fire test to railway component – Types of rolling stock
Category A1: All rolling stock, including drivers’ cabins, which travel frequently through tunnels
Category A2: Urban and suburban rolling stock, including drivers’ cabins, which travel infrequently through tunnels, wagons and their trailers, main-line sleeper cars.
Category B: Main-line rolling stock with seats, including drivers’cabins, which travel infrequently through tunnels, locomotive and locomotor drivers’ cabins,
NF F *****1/NF F *****2 Fire test to railway component – Specific Application
